Joe, I bought a radio mike a few years ago and it has worked well for me in certain situations (bit costly though - but what a diference). (Admitadly - where do you clip the broach mike when there are naked bodies? Kristoph please note wink ) Next option is stick a good mike on the end of a broom handle and get someone to hold it out of shot. Most Cameras nowadays have a sound input (some have two, brag brag smile ) so yes you can stick mikes into these inputs. Pryce.

Okay you need a shotgun microphone. No such thing as a boom mic. You need a boom pole. There are some cheap shotgun mics, but dont get the cheapest you can find. They can run anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars. A boom ploe can run you anywhere between just over a hundred and a thousand. You will also need a shockmount and wind guard.

    Question

I wanted to make a short film and needed help with sound. I can get good sound with a microphone, but I can't always have it right under the actors mouth. Where can I get a shotgun/boom mic? Are they available for DV cameras?
